SOUL SESSIONS

It is the goal of one’s mind, body, and spirit to be in harmony, and it is from a place of harmony that healing occurs.  Life provides continuous challenges to this harmony and often overwhelms a person to such an extent that one feels stuck, defeated, and sometimes hopeless that the possibility of healing even exists.  It is my goal to create space that allows my clients to reconnect with themselves and empowers them to design a path of restoration that is accessible and achievable regardless of the obstacles they encounter along the way.

"The soul always knows what to do to heal itself."
- Caroline Myss

Individual soul sessions are designed based on each client’s current challenges, goals, and optimal ways of healing. I choose approaches tailored to the client and will modify throughout the therapeutic process as needed.

As an eclectic and holistic practitioner, I place emphasis on clients connecting with the mind, body, and soul through cognitive therapies, mindfulness, breathwork, trauma-informed practices, somatic experiencing, lifestyle modifications, and solution-focused and goal-oriented techniques.

BREATHWORK

Breathwork is about creating time and space to connect with the self through the mind, body, and soul. In our culture, we do not typically hold sacred reserving time or space for self-discovery or self-care – time where the only task is to connect with who you are, space to acknowledge and honor the deeper emotional being within. Time for self is more often the first thing we sacrifice.

It can be incredibly uncomfortable to connect with the emotional self, and breathwork offers a path that makes it possible in a gentler, more bearable way. It allows us to go beyond words in order to join with our feelings, to let the truth of our souls shine through, and to clear away the background noise of distraction and escape we seek.

Breathwork requires a person to slow down, to be mindful, and to open one’s self to different possibilities in terms of thinking, being, and living. It is the single most powerful tool we have for transforming physical and mental functioning, and I love sharing with others how to harness that force to create meaningful change.

EMDR for TRAUMA & LIFE DISTRESS

Originally developed by psychologist Francine Shapiro in the late 1980s, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a type of therapy proven to reduce the intensity of disturbing thoughts and images and eliminate emotional distress and negative thinking that stems from memories of specific events or relationships. It is often a short-term therapy, in that clients can experience significant improvement in only a few sessions, and has been found to provide relief from nightmares, flashbacks, insomnia, depression, and anxiety. There is also evidence of its efficacy in treating various phobias. Since its creation, research supports that EMDR is highly effective in treating symptoms from myriad types of trauma, including war/combat, natural disasters, accidents, medical procedures, grief and loss, and physical and sexual abuse.

I have completed both Level I and Level II trainings for certification as an EMDR therapist.

PSYCHODRAMA

Psychodrama is a method of treatment that allows people to explore their inner reality through physical experience and dramatization. Working within a person’s existence and truth can provide relief from emotional pressure, allows for perspective shifts and enhanced understanding, and creates opportunity for the natural healing forces of mind, body, and soul to work effectively in the face of ongoing life challenges. Experiencing one’s reality in a different way also allows the healing process to extend to the world around us opposed to being confined to a therapist’s office.
